Tada! Presenting to you... Excellence Campaign

This is what the Promotion Team has been very busy with. This is a dream come true to come up with the Excellence Campaign for XUHS as the university celebrates its 75th year. This is the project of Lera for the Promotions for XUHS. Christie did a whole lot of work for this campaign. I completely trust her creative processes and indeed she has never failed to impress us.

I just ended a very manic week...

...and then you listen to this kid, and you say to yourself "Darn! This kid can melt all your problems away with his talent!" I think I have to really be working so hard because I don't have this kind of virtuoso-ness at a very young age (Mine was eating a plateful of spaghetti and that was just it!).

Sungha Jung made me wake up after a tiring work week. Play more beautiful music to inspire!

stress levels are high - time to dig in!

Had late dinner at Vienna Kauffehaus with music tandem Cheryl and Jake.

Lolay had her Hungarian Sausage, Jake his lasagna and I had to try their Neptune Platter.

When all was done, we had to have cakes blueberry cheesecake, brazo and chocolate mud cake.

finger firestop startup!

Lera and I met with her friends who will create the music video for Finger Firestop's song Bagong Umaga.

These guys had to share with the concept-making of the music video. Well, Im not so sure if the video guys got a lot from them. More goofing! Talk about working with teens.

I hope we could make it through this.

banda ni papet!

I had to make a rush to the main campus for the auditions for the Xavier Day's program on the 3rd of December. Jake and Jo were very much of great help to bring their club members with them to the audition location. I spotted... (ok so they spotted me first)

It was Banda ni Papet!

It was very refreshing to see these guys perform. They really wanted to be a part of the whole program for the opening. I haven't seen these guys in years. When they were still with us they had the passion and the drive (did I forget talent?) to perform. I was able to provide them a venue during the HS show in the main (oh yeah, that was still during XU Days) and during their grad ball, we distributed their songs in CD as memento for their batch (there were during bands during their year. I remember coming up with a jingle writing activity for these kids for SV Agreement just to get them to appreciate grammar!)

I guess all the bands wanted to be there since I also saw John Ganzan and Paolo Ang's band and they now call themselves Random.

And Soundtable was there too. This is all getting weird. I had three students in the band. Joshua and Raffy now are with that band.

And also spotted...

Hey, why is John Paul here? He said his band was auditioning too! Small world!

We ended the whole thing at around 11pm. Not so good. I think my body is failing me.

the brewing starts here... excellence campaign

Lera and I have been all in the talks in making something diffrent this year for the promotions. We did one last year but I considered risking more this year but offering my assistance to her office. I think we could so much with all of her ideas and mine for this year.

We couldnt help but get excited for what will happen this week.

Christie and Nessa were very much appreciated for their participation for this work. I coudn't be more proud of these very talented students to rise up to the challenge to help us make this dream into a reality. I have already challenged Christie about the project and she was very much willing to work with us. I believe her talent, she has what it takes to make it, and she couldnt refuse me telling her this is something big (and I couldnt just
let this be handled by someone I couldnt trust)!

Last week we have already chosen those who we will make to appear for the campaign. It wasnt a very easy job, considering the whole thing must well represent the school and they should also photograph well.

We started early since we only have the whole morning to work this all out. We started in the kiosks and later in the concrete benches. We then proceeded to the chapel and then in the main building lobby. After there we took more in the LRC and the laboratories. We called it a wrap after we got the final shots in the new canteen.

Phase one is done. I hope things get only better after this. I could sense my stress levels rise.

you might find it hard to choose...

The cakes in Candy's are considered to be the best in the city, I got myself the tiramisu (above) and Jake got the very sinful chocolate cake (below). He already had a taste of what I had and it wasn't a favorite of his. I had enough of chocolate. We enjoyed our own cakes, no crossing of forks transpired.

get together everyone!

Got an invite to celebrate Kaye' s birthday at Skypark. Since Kaye was with me for two years, I met both Gonzales and Mayer students in the celebration.

Time to goof around, enjoy the food and the great company. You cant help it, it was a Friday night.

Happy Birthday Kaye!

"drew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation's apathy"

This statement was taken from the transcript of Sen. Barack Obama's speech at the Grant Park rally after he won the race for the White House. He attributes his victory particularly to the youth where his campaign had put its efforts significantly.

The workload may weary any teacher's body but the ideals they bear (please say yes if the students really have this) can always shake your spine.

uhm... i have questions that need answers

I was so stressed out before the start of classes since I had to be in a meeting that took a whole day to finish! (Whew! Argh! Grrr!) And so what better way to de-stress than to sit on a comfortable seat and exercise one's suspension of disbelief and watch James Bond do his spy vs spy work.

The film was not the usual Bond film, for me it was more serious (like Bourne) which made it more appealing for me.

James Bond... check.
A Bond Girl ... check
Villain ... check
M... check

wait, what happened to Q? and Money Penny? What happened to these two characters that give so much spice to this franchise. Did they do this on purpose?

fallen

I had my first encounter of Richard Poon's music thanks to Anili (she met him personally) and I think I need a break from the usual music i fill my ipod with. His rendition of Fallen is a breather. I also like Let's Call the Whole Thing Off.

I miss playing the piano. As Richard sings his song, I can hear the instrument calling me back to play.
